Abstract
In the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray light curve from January 1 to August 25, 2026, of the changing look blazar B2 1420+326, we report here the detection of transient quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) of period ranging around 10-13 d. The source entered the flare state around May 7, 2026, and lasted till around mid-August, 2026 during which it depicted strong QPO signatures. We utilized standard techniques, including weighted wavelet Z-transform analysis, generalized Lomb-Scargle periodogram, and phase dispersion minimization, to search for and confirm these findings. Prior to the flare, the source displayed a mild damped oscillatory feature of similar periodicity with a damping timescale of around 20 d. Based on the period timescale and nature of the QPOs detected, we discuss possible physical mechanisms for the observed salient features.
